If you use Vista, you can download the Nikon NEF CODEC to enable the operating system to understand NEF the same way it does JPG and TIFF (e.g. show proper thumbnails, etc.). Version 1.1.0 of the CODEC supports the latest cameras, including the D300 and D3. Macintosh users should note that the same ability requires an update from Apple, which hasn't happened yet.
